In which you may find the latest information of Works tenders and new documents which can be downloaded from this website. Also, there are three short notes regarding the Seminar on "Commercial Realities of Sub-Contracting"; our website; and CITA/PCFB levy on E&M works.
(1) Seminar on "Commercial Realities of Sub-Contracting"
Two seminars were held on 6th and 13th April 2002 for members on this interesting topic, conducted by the renowned Mr John Battersby. Response was very encouraging - attendance was over 80. We are considering organising more functions of similar nature in the near future.
(2) Our Website - www.hkfemc.org
Our website has been in full action for more than 2 months now. 40 members have registered for internet downloading of WB tender documents. If you are interested in enjoying this convenience, register as soon as possible.
WB departments are now providing encrypted version of the tender files only. Users will need "Cryto Tools" (full version) to handle these files efficiently. We are negotiating with the publisher to see if a bulk discount can be granted to our members.
(3) CITA/PCFB levy on E&M works
Please refer to the separate circular on this issue which affects all E&M contractors. If you have cases sutiable for submission to the Small Claim Tribunal, be free to tell us. A dedicated Working Group will assist you to file it for a legal test. Please bear in mind that all of us were, are and will be levied for the E&M work concerned, whether we agree or not. The money has been deducted by main contractors and is gone. In short, there is nothing further to lose out of the proposed legal action.
